McDermott Cues are one of the most recognized and respected names in the billiard world. Jim McDermott started the company when he began repairing cues in the mid-1960s at his home in the Milwaukee area. Jim traveled to all of the local bars and pool rooms, picking up and delivering the cues he repaired. In 1966 Jim met master cuemaker Rollie Welch and worked with him for several years.

The first official line of McDermott cues was introduced in
1975. All ten of the cue sticks featured the now-famous McDermott interchangeable weight bolt system. This system has appeared on almost all McDermott cues produced since then. Most collectors and players refer to these as the A-line because of the later alphabetical progression, however they were actually called the M/R Line at the time. The first line of cues all featured the McDermott flat faced, wood-to-wood joint, and had color coordinated bumpers.
Today, McDermott cues are collectible for a number of reasons. All of the individual McDermott Pool Cue lines are made up of cues that have been well-designed and well-marketed. The success of McDermott has resulted in familiarity with many of the C- and D-Line cues by players that were active when these cues were available.

All McDermott pool cues are guaranteed for life. They are crafted by skilled artisans who are some of the finest wood makers in America. Every shaft is turned eleven times and made from the finest kiln-dried, hand selected North American Hard Rock Maple. The wood is aged for two years and machined three times to ensure straightness. The wood to wood joint provides the best feel and the most solid hit in the billiard industry.
